• Deus

Deus ex Machina (god from the machine) roared into Australia’s cultural consciousness in 2006, with some neatly customised motorcycles and a quaint notion that doing something is more fun than just owning something. Deus ex Machina is a step bigger than a brand: it’s a culture. Our openness and enthusiasm strike a chord with people, wherever they are... Deus (“day-us”) didn’t set out only to sell custom parts and hand- built motorcycles, but to celebrate a culture of creativity. The Deus philosophy recalls an era before the various pursuits of fun – motorcycling, surfing, skateboarding, whatever – were marketed into fundamentalist factions. All are welcomed under the Deus roof, where there’s simply respect for the honesty and enjoyment of the machine. Inclusiveness, authenticity, enthusiasm. It’s a simple and sincere pitch that has winged Deus ex Machina across the world. Deus ex Machina says simply there’s no ‘right way’ to do individualism, its all the same juice. Since opening the doors at the Camperdown Temple of Enthusiasm Deus has spread its own flavour of internally combustible postmodernism around the globe.

Hardware - Internally Combusted

Custom motorcycles are at the core of the Deus philosophy. While focussing on the design and construction of bespoke custom motorcycles, Deus also promotes and celebrates a custom motorcycle culture that first appeared in Europe and America in the 1940s, a culture of pure enthusiasm born of the desire to turn the humble motorcycle into the ultimate expression of applied art. Workshops are located in Sydney, Bali, LA and Milan. The diversity of talent within this global brotherhood has produced a stable of eclectic and beautiful machines that can be seen daily on the streets of their home cities.

Hardware - Water Propelled

The Temple of Enthusiasm in Bali is the home of design and production for Deus surfcraft. With a fully contained shaping bay and glassing room the Temple has hosted a stellar cast of talented shapers over recent years including Josh Hall, Chris Garret, Thomas Bexon, Tyler Warren, Ellis Ericson, Rich Pavel and Bob McTavish. Each of these craftsman have brought their own unique skills to the Temple and left behind a quiver of remarkable boards from noseriders to displacement hulls to fat-railed fishes, all wearing the colours of Deus bespoke art. Deus surfboards are available for purchase from all locations and also made to order.

Branded Goods

They ride bikes, so they made some nice jackets. They surf, so they printed up their own boardshorts. They travel, so they designed luggage made to last their trips. Deus products have provenance in the pursuits of a Deus enthusiast, no over design just simple, quality products made to compliment our lives.
